Go to Documents and Settings/your_directory/Application Data/Sibelius Software/Sibelius 5 folder and delete 'Playback Configurations' folder and the 'PlaybackConfig.xml' file. This should restore the default settings. Try the Sound Essentials (16 sounds) configuration in Play > Playback Devices and see if it works now.
