Just thinking about that -- that is an odd error message in this case because your laptop model does not have IDT audio hardware, but rather it has a Sigmatel audio codec which uses a Sigmatel audio driver. After installing latest Sigmatel drivers for Vista its still the same, in Device manager there's a SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC with yellow "!" and "This device cannot start (Code 10)". Must say I tried to install them in Vista compatibility mode. I saw there were hotfixes for Vista ans XP that fix this issue after upgrading to SP2.
