Problems recording with Sigmatel Audio I have a new latitude D420 running XP and using a Sigmatel High definition Audio CODEC sound card. I am having trouble getting it to record using an external mic (SM58 mic with 1/8" stereo jack adapter) plugged into the mic outlet. I can't find a line in outlet, if one exists, to try using that.

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately this is a driver issue with Sigmatel audio chips. You will need to check with your computer manufacturer (or motherboard manufacturer) for the latest Sigmatel drivers for your machine. The first one is for Sigmatel Wndows Vista 32-bit/64-bit Audio Driver released on Jun 2/08 version 6.10.5609, and the second one for Webcam Driver Package and mic released on Jun 11/08 version 6.2.218.524.
