We’re betting that Simaudio has a copy, so great an example of the breed is the i-7. It’s built superbly, imposingly styled, costs a lot, and – most importantly – sounds like a slice of heaven. It has the family sound: refined, with a midrange of …

The i-7 comes with a nice-looking remote handset, built into a molar-shaped alloy enclosure so heavy that, when I accidentally dropped it, it dented the floor. Seriously. The i-7 is fully balanced, although the single-ended inputs outnumber their balanced counterpart four to …

SimAudio Moon I-7 integrated amplifier. The flagship integrated amplifier from this respected Canadian audio company is a dual-mono balanced design that offered an “engaging and effortless sound.”. With 150 watts per channel on tap, this beautifully sculpted solid-state amp can drive just about any loudspeaker on the planet and may be the ...

Simaudio's Moon Evolution i-7 is very good at one of those things. Some reasonable comparisons: At $6000, the Moon i-7 is significantly more expensive than the Naim Nait 5i ($1425) and Cyrus 8vs ($1795), but offers more than both of those amps in terms of ergonomic refinements—not to mention sheer output power.

The Sim Audio i-7 is a very nice Solid State integrated amp. My only issue is the price. For that kind of money - you could seriously look into buying separates. I personally would spend the bulk on a serious serious preamplifier (possibly a tube preamp) for $4500 - $5500 and spend the rest on the power amp.

Since it’s a fully balanced differential amplifier, my only complaint with the i-7 relates to the absence of two or three balanced inputs on the rear panel. As Simaudio makes fully balanced phono preamplifiers and CD players, it makes no sense to not take advantage of connecting to the amplifier in balanced mode.

Exceptional build and finish a refined, insightful, transparent sound Against We’d like greater bite to the presentation, particularly at low frequencies There can be few classier amplifiers than Moon's i-7 RS. From the well-weighted volume control to the immaculately finished casework and ultra-clear display, this is an amp that oozes luxury.

With regard to sound quality, the I-7 is hard to beat. It is a fully differential Dual mono design, fully balanced and has very low distortion. The Amp has a beautiful warm sound, lots of musical fidelity and a plenty of kick with 150 Wpc into 8ohms (250Wpc into 4 …
