In the Control Panel, select Sound > Recording (for microphone audio) or Playback (for system audio). Select the recording/playback device and click Properties. You're doing better than I am - I can't get Snagit to record video at all! As far as sound is concerned, you probably have the wrong default recording device selected. Right click on the speaker icon at the right hand end of the system tray, and select recording devices. You need to have Stereo Mix set as the default.
