SONOS (Sonos) founder and CEO John MacFarlane foresaw the future was digital and wireless but with streaming as the eventual format of choice. Maybe not for the audiophile, at least at the time, but it was coming. That was in 2002. Today, Sonos is the mainstream brand for music delivery in a wireless/streaming world.

The Sonos Arc’s MSRP is $799. SONOS S2 app. The recent upgrade path to the present began in an odd way. I’m not sure how they did it, but the new Sonos app (S2) released last week—an app to accommodate the upgraded processing power of the new speakers—improved the sound of my system significantly.

http://audiophile.no/en/articles-tests-reviews/item/2044-review-play5
Sonos Play: 5 is a very good replacement and upgrade of its predecessor, and constitutes a worthy flagship Sonos its excellent program with wireless streaming speaker. The sound as a single unit constitutes a neutral and very good sounding device, which extends almost spooky far down in the bass range.

Its superior sound quality makes this Sonos speaker a reliable choice, especially if you're looking for a portable unit. This model stands out for its deep and rich sound, especially when it's paired with a stereo. Can be set up in 5 minutes using home WiFi. Some users wish the software was more up-to-date. Sonos Arc review: The all-in-one Atmos soundbar to beat …
https://www.cnet.com/reviews/sonos-arc-review/
When listening to movies over my time with the speaker I was continually amazed by the amount of deep-end heft the Sonos was capable of. It would sound better with the sub, sure, but you don't need...
It's big, it's expensive and it's an audiophile's dream ...
https://www.theregister.com/2014/01/30/sonos_sub_review
The only control button on it is a Join button, used to get it bonded to an existing Sonos WiFi network. We checked it out by adding it to a stereo pair of Sonos Play:3 speakers. It was a moderate pain to do this. The network wouldn't recognise the Sub until we turned off the WiFi router and Sonos Bridge box and restarted them.
Any audiophiles use Sonos? : sonos - reddit

The thing is, I suck at that so for my next system (Bedroom) I will go for a stereo Sonos One setup. We all Sonos is overpriced and kind of the "Apple of audio" but even audiophiles cant deny that they sound very good for casual music consumption and the simplicity is unmatched. 1 Share ReportSave level 1 · 3y Audiophiles don’t buy Sonos. -3 Share
