Uzun & xrox, neither of your mentioned the DRC V1 so it makes me wonder what TV model you are checking out. The xbr800 does have the V1 and a palette setting of 1,1 does improve the NTSC picture to me. One of the earlier complaints of the Sony DRC was the inability to turn it off but the V1 pretty much allows that.

Is it possible to disable DRC using a service mode setting? I bought a Sony KV32HS500 this past weekend and I've run into a problem. It seems everyhing BUT my satellite looks fabulous on this TV. I'm not sure if its an upconverting problem, but it's driving me nuts! Here's my main use for the TV in order: Satellite, Video Games, DVD's.

Imagine all this on a certain scale from 0-100, where 1 is the softest sound and 100 the loudest sound. On a system that doesn't use some form of DRC, when you set the volume so you can hear the softest sounds, the loudest sound can be really really loud. Great if you want the full impact of the audio portion of the presentation.
