The Sony STR-DE685 is a fine receiver for the money. Lots of bells and whistles. Be careful, because it has a great THD rating in stereo, but only so-so with all 5 channels driven.

Have owned Sony STR-DE685 for about 3 months now as part of my home entertainment system. I initially purchased one and had it for only 10 days when the right front channel malfunctioned, causing popping/crackling sounds and the system going into protection mode. With the second one, I have not experienced any problems.
