The Dolby license probably limits certain abilities unless the Sony were to pay for the full CODEC. You need an AC3 decoder like the one at https://www.ac3filter.net/.

Vegas Pro 17 b421 has broken AC-3 support for s3D (Stereoscopic 3D) files readed by mvcplug.dll. In builds 353 and 387 the mvc / avc s3D import was broken, so the last workable build was 321.It doesn't seem to be a problem with AC-3 but with mvcplug.dll.

ac3 requires a separate plugin for older versions of vegas. You had to pay for it separate. You could open it with Sound Forge or the likes and convert it to wave. That might change something in the timing though. I am not sure. Probably not that much that would make a difference since you are syncing new audio. __________________
