I get no sound from my SoundMax digital audio driver in Windows XP. Device manager diagnostic found no problem with the driver. Ran a diagnostic program after re-booting and tested the driver outside of Windows and got sound during the test, but still can't get sound to work in Windows. All drivers have been updated. Don't know what to do now.

I FIXED IT!! The fix (if you haven't bought a new sound card) is to go to C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\ and run ATIrem.exe. This will remove all the soundmax files.

The computer plays sound even without speakers or headphones. The problem is that the volume is very low even when my Windows audio setting is at its highest. Problem remains even with soundcard and headphones. At work, my computer is the Dell GX280. It also has the Soundmax Digital Audio soundcard.

Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software > (Select extracted folder with Windows 7 SoundMax driver in it.) Step 6.) Done. I even got a tidy "Successfull" window. My microphone is now in the "Sound" control panel box and under "Recording devices" when I right click the system tray icon. Skype recognises it etc.
