Replied on May 12, 2016. In reply to John W [MSFT]'s post on August 18, 2015. and with insider build 14342 this issue still exists. Sound will start, then 3 servicies will stop: Windows Audio Service, Windows Event Log and Security Center, run the troubleshooter, and things will work, and a bit later the services will stop again.

However, I can't seem to be enable the sound. On paper everything seems fine even the "needles" are twitching(see image in the link) when I play an audio file but sound won't come out. The only Playback device available in the list is "Digital Audio (S/PDIF) 2- High Definiton Audio Device". I checked the drivers and everything is up to date.

Under Control Panel > Sound the Playback tab lists both Speakers and Digital Audio. Both have bar graphs next to them to show audio levels. The speakers work as expected. I cannot get the SPDIF to work. When I make SPDIF the default device the bar graph indicates it is receiving sound ... but I get no audio.
