Sound will start, then 3 servicies will stop: Windows Audio Service, Windows Event Log and Security Center, run the troubleshooter, and things will work, and a bit later the services will stop again. Seriously this has been going on for too long. Windows 7 was the last decent oeprating system, everything worked. Report abuse

In your first attempt, when you installed the driver and rebooted, did you not then select the SPDIF output as the default in the Windows Sound applet? If you didn't, this means that the Intel HD Audio (over DP and HDMI) would have taken over - and of course the RealTek audio would not be working (you can only output to one).

If I output audio to my HDMI it works, no problem. When I try to output via my digital output (S/PDIF) nothing is coming through. Sometimes I can use 'Test' and hear "left input" and "right input" but if I try to play any sounds or videos or youtube - it essentially 'kills it', and no more audio is heard.
