Logitech Squeezebox Duet Build Quality and Setup ... My reference system consists of squeezebox duet connected optically to Audio Alchemy DAC-In-The-Box which connects directly into Parasound A21 power amp (the best preamp is no preamp) and a pair of NHT 2.5i. The sound is owesome. It's the best system I've ever had (and I've had a lot).

I just purchase a squeezebox duet that is connected by coaxial to my Pioneer VSX94TH with polk speakers in all 7 channels. I am not totally satisfied with the sound quality. My digital audio media files are in WMA pro, MP3's, lossless, WMA - CD quality rip.
How to improve the sound quality of squeezebox

The only complain I have, is the sound quality from the two channel analog outputs in the Squeezebox classic and duet, it left much to be desired. My vintage Sansui AU-D707F stereo amplifier and Squeezbox. My setup is quite simple, a 2 channel stereo amplifier to a pair of 200W louder speakers.

The earlier models (SLIMP3 and Squeezebox 1) are now (2008) old and although they are still supported and still work, the audio quality is not the same. The "audiophile" Transporter model is, as the price tag suggests, a different animal altogether: both the analog and digital output sections are substantially improved on the Squeezebox models.

The sound quality of the Duet will largely depend on the use of a quality DAC . I am using a the Duet into a Bel Canto DAC 3 , and the DAC straight in to a Canary CA 301 MKII tube amp ( 4 X 300B tubes) , the Bel Canto has also a pre-amp built in with a stepped attenuator volume control, the speakers are Dali Helicons 400.
Squeezebox audio quality, really that good

310. I thought my Squeezebox Duet was pretty bad through it's analogue outputs; my Touch is just about OK for background listening. Neither are remotely audiophile quality. The digital outputs of a Touch feeding a Benchmark DAC is a much more listenable proposition. 2011-06-29, 13:26 #8.

Duet - $77 Boom - $67 Radio - $53 These are networked audio players (like Sonos) with a focus on sound quality (unlike Sonos, whose focus is on convenience, looks, and easy installation). Touch and Duet are meant to be the centerpiece of a hi-fi system (which mine have been), Boom and Radio are standalone complete with surprisingly good speakers.

Cebolla said: Use the Squeezebox/LMS dedicated picoreplayer distro (as mentioned by @TheHighFlyingBirds) instead of the jack of all trades Volumio, for better support of the built-in Squeezelite Squeezebox type player. Would be as a slot-in replacement for the OP's original Squeezebox Duet.
Duet - sound quality compared to Touch, DAC etc. - Squeezebox
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?92805-Duet-sound-quality-compared-to-Touch-DAC-etc
Hi I have a Duet as my main source of music now (Cambridge Audio amp, Cerwin-Vega AT-60 speakers), running via analogue outs. It sounds good to me. But I keep reading how the Touch sounds much better than the Duet, so am now considering "upgrading". Do you need good audiophile ears to notice the difference or is it marginal ? Will it be £200 well spent ?
