Now, Stephens is a vintage brand of speakers that once ran operations in Culver City, CA. Not so frequent a brand of instruments speakers, though, and from what I understand they've been out of business for ages, now brought back as a brand, courtesy of Peavey. Peavey were also behind the Blue Marvel speakers which I believe were made by Eminence.

They were popular in the fifties and sixties, of excellent quality and very well regarded; similar to JBL but not quite as expensive. Mine were the 8 inch version of yours.
