Recently got a new gaming headset (Rosewill RHTS-8206 for anyone interested) and it is a 5.1 surround sound headset, but using the driver cd's software you can enable "virtual 7.1 surround." I'm not much of an expert in this area, but if I have the virtual 7.1 enabled, does that mean i should configure the audio in tf2 for 7.1, or should i set it at 5.1 since it is natively 5.1?

the JVC HARX's are great headphones, as are the audio technica ath's. regardless of how many speakers your headphones have you can force windows to believe you have a 5.1 setup, and tf2 will pick up on this and position audio properly. tl;dr: disregard "gaming" headsets, acquire positional audio 19 Share ReportSave level 2 Op· 11y

When I run Team Fortress 2 with Discord's overlay enabled, a fair amount of in-game sounds (like voices) are completely inaudible. Hello dear readers, I've just started up TF2, but for some reason I could not hear any audio whatsoever. I tried to restart and mess with the Audio options, but stillnothing works. I tried checking off the "mute game sound when the game is in the background" option and of course, no luck. And yes, the sound works perfectly when I am using it for other applications.
