Would you consider the audio edition of The Swimmer to be better than the print version? I haven't read the short story or seen the movie in more than 20 years. I became interested after reading rave reviews of the new Blu-ray edition. It includes this audible story. Well, I listened to it as I drove home. And, it was wonderful.

"The Swimmer" is my personal favorite John Cheever short story. Mr. Cheever can sometimes provide a sad, depressing reading experience, at least in his short stories. Some of his short stories involve the death of children and horrible conduct by parents in front of children.
