HD-DVD audio is a lot more complicated than DVD audio. With DVD all it has to do is pull the bits off the disc then send them down the optical. With HD-DVD, it has to decode the audio to PCM, send it to a mixer to combine primary audio with secondary audio streams (commentary/menu beeps etc.), then reencode this to DTS.

I tried a couple of HD disks on my A2, and the DD+, Dolby True HD and DTS HD tracks came through in 96khz over HDMI. But then I dropped in some SD disks and got 48khz for the DD and DTS tracks. Dropped in Queen the game DVD, and got 96khz for the DTS96/24 track, and 96khz for the 96khz stereo LPCM track. I also dropped in a CD and got 44.1khz.

I bought two A2's during the wally world sale. I've tried watching 4 HD-DVD's, only one played all the way through successfully. Both have the latest updates. One HD-DVD was brand new and still had issues. Sound like some serious QA issues with HD-DVD production or in the players themselves.
