This is a 64-bit system just upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04. Wasn't using VLC before, and videos worked fine. Now with VLC videos skip forward rapidly (as if they had no awareness of the clock) and have no sound. This is true for embedded videos on web pages with both Firefox and Chrome. I run VLC 2.0.1 Twoflower on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. There's no sound in VLC while I play a movie in it. Video plays well. The same file plays well (both audio and video) in Movie Player.
