sound - Audio not working in 12.10 - Ask Ubuntu

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/205055/audio-not-working-in-12-10

I ran alsamixer, it says my card is "HDA Intel", and chip is "Realtek ALC880". The alsamixer playback output was set to mute at first, unmuting did not fix.

May be "Support Audio in Console" is checked. If yes uncheck it. I think it is buggy in 9.9 as when checked, no device is detected. In Security mode prefer RDP, I often use TLS, but with it , sound stops working after few seconds or minutes, whereas I have no problems with RDP. (If you use Firefox to access your client, no problem with chrome)

PulseAudio - Ubuntu Wiki

For some reason, pulseaudio's user configuration files can become corrupt(unsynced?) in some way, and deleting them (and forcing fresh ones to be generated) fixes a no sound condition. After using the command below, log out/in. Ubuntu 12.10/Quantal (and earlier) rm -r ~/.pulse*; pulseaudio -k. Ubuntu 13.04/Raring (and later)
