Yes. Audio is working correctly in the guest OS where the device is set to: Unknown Volume Control 1 (Sun Audio Mixer) I want to add one more bit of information. In the same laptop I have a Window XP Pro SP3 partition with VitualBox 2.1.4 I can startup the same ubuntu 8.10 image and have no problem with the sound in that case. Thanks. Paolo

hi, first time using ubuntu. Installed ubuntu jaunty jackalope onto my hp pavillion tx2500 after getting fed up of windows vista and the the amount of hassle required to get xp onto the system (laptop has sata harddrive, and xp doesnt support sata from instillation!) It sounds like you need to install a RealTek HD Audio driver (for Linux) rather than depend on the standard sound driver that may have been matched to your system when you booted from the usb device (and does not handle some of the device interfaces).

The problem that Sean describe, is a nown problem of java sound api (used by tuxguitar-jsa) that uses OSS output. some users can solve it by running tuxguitar with alsa-oss: aoss tuxguitar Sean, I've tested pulseaudio on intrepid, and it seems to be better. i've tested it under hardy, and fluidsynth didn't work, timidity had problems.
