Anyhow, none of the fixes for the Flash 10 video problem seemed to work for me, so I decided to see if downgrading would fix the issue. It did (I downgraded to v9 r159), but v9 of Flash had no sound. It turned out that this was due to (I believe) compatibility issues with Flash 9 and Pulse Audio.

New 2017-03-05: Trying Ubuntu 16.10 on Intel revealed that there is stutter, too. So only Nvidia + Unity + Ubuntu 16.10 is a smooth combination.
