The M-Audio Delta 44 is a 4 input and 4 output audio device. The "Jack" application does recognize this device as such and the applications that work with Jack do have control over the in's and outs. I just don't have a gui mixer to control the system sounds.

Hi, This is a persistent and very discouraging problem for a lot of Ubuntu Studio users. I am running a new installation of Ubuntu Studio 9.10 with an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card. Jack is running fine right out of the box. System/Preference/Sound Hardware tab shows ICE1712 {Envy24}PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller. Input tab shows the same.

To do this, I installed an M-Audio Delta-44 sound card. This is a four-channel balanced I/O unit, that appears to have fairly good specs (96KHz/24 bit ADCs and DACs with 99/103dB SNR and 0.0023/0.002% THD), at least for the price.

Also, the Delta 44 is an ice1712 based card, and therefore can be operated with the Envy 24 control program. If you can download Envy, the interface is very easy to work with, and you can see that you have control over the inputs and outputs of the card just like the mixer software for the card in windows. douglane.

Once installed you will get an Envy24 Control utility. Run this and adjust the mixer to enable audio form the in/out jacks and adjust your levels as they are all set to zero by default and bingo my Delta 44 sound card is now works under Fldigi. May try the fldigi + CQRLog combo out in the RSBG 80M CC contest tomorrow. About Dave, G8FXM

Just one remark: If you do not need 8 channels and 4 are enough, the M-Audio Delta 44 is also a good choice. I had one before i got a delta 1010. BTW: The Delta 1010 has balanced inputs ! The delta 1010lt has not. My current card is a RME Multiface and i could not recognize e real difference in terms of sound between the delta 1010 and the RME.
