I recently installed Ubuntu 8.10. I am having problems with my sound. I've tried different ways to configure my sound, but I have no luck. You can look at my configuration in the pics I attached. Alsamixer doesn't show any playback devices. My motherboard has an HDA-Intel integrated sound card.

On two notebooks (Compaq nx6110 and Toshiba Satellite A135) I use Ubuntu 8.10 and I do have sound and video problems. I can listen to internet radio and other sound and video files by using Amarok and other media players, but when I use Skype I get "Problem with Audio Playback" warning. I have reinstalled the most up-to-date version of Skype.

Just recently I started to get no sound from my Dell Dimension 8400 running Ubuntu 8.10. Speakers are plugged in and I am able to get sound when I run the 9.04 live disk, but there is no video support for my card so upgrading is not an option at this time. As I said, I removed Pulse so that option has been exhausted.
