If it reports an audio stream then it may simply the lack of a codec on your PC why you do not hear it. Original dvd playback would not be troubled by codecs. The imported video should also be in the designated working folder. Open the video in gspot and that will tell you if your system has the appropiate codec.

From the camcorder, make sure the red to red and white to white. Then set the Windows default audio recording to Easycap audio. Hopefully that will do the trick. My Easycap card is similar to the one shown but it doesn't plug directly to USB, it is "in line" with USB and Line In output cords.

Well, my initial capture works fine. Itsaves as an AVI file and it is able to played or edited. What I am doing is capturing it with Ulead and then using Window Movie Maker (I know, sucks) to do basic cut/edit at the moment. With Ulead, the video works within the program, but anything saved is black screen with audio.
