The 6176 is much more versatile than the LA610. 1st of all, the pre and compressor can be patched separately so the 1176 can be used with other pres or you can insert an EQ etc. This is the real 1176 where as the LA comp in the mkII is a dumbed down version of the LA2A from UA.

Looks like the LA 610 has 3 12ax7's, 1 6072 and 1 6AQ5 while the 6176 has a compliment of one 12ax7a and one 6072a. One may "split" the compressor portion with the 6176.
