Looks like the LA 610 has 3 12ax7's, 1 6072 and 1 6AQ5 while the 6176 has a compliment of one 12ax7a and one 6072a. One may "split" the compressor portion with the 6176. Versatility: the LA-2A type compressor in the LA-610 is more mission-specific (bass and vocals) than the ll76 in the 6176. Also, the 610 and 1176 can be used independantly in the 6176 but the LA-2A type compressor and the 610 cannot be in the LA-610. The choice really boils down to getting the best sounding signal path for (male) vocals.
