When I owned a LA-610 MKII I never thought of it as really a thick or colored preamp. It's colored compared to some of the more clinical preamps out there but it never wowed me in the colored or lush dept. Thin is a good description.

I listened to a clone from warm audio wa2a vs wa76 on YouTube and wa2a this is LA610 = 610 preamp + t4 optocomp (teletronix) sounds much better. I think the sound a universal audio la-610 mkii is much better, because made of the 5 tubes and easier in the settings.
