hmm, I'm pretty sure sampling copyrighted music is entirely legal. I don't think movie soundtracks are any different. Immortal Technique samples the soundtrack from Scarface a lot on his albums, for example. I might be wrong, however. But if you're just making the music for your own personal use, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

This sub is super salty towards sampling... If you are using samples as instruments (sampling one note and then modulating it to make your own melody, etc.), no one will ever notice. Four Tet, for example, makes all his songs this way...never clears them, he doesn't need to. If it's that kind of sampling I'd say go for it.
