Try menu>options>audio/language options>digital audio output try surround sound and save. 😉. Done that.. When the U-Verse STB's "Digital Audio Output" setting is set to Surround Sound, sound from the HD channels is sent over optical and HDMI as 5.1 Dolby Digital.
