Thorens TD-124 Turntable with SME 3009 S2 Tonearm TD stands for "tourne-disque" which means literally "record turner" in French. The Thorens TD-124 might be one of the most famous 'audiophile' vintage turntables every made, although some might say that title should go to the Garrard 301 grease bearing turntable.

Technics Sp-15 Turntable Repair Service?- Vinyl Engine

It's basically a SL-1200Mk2 and the parts are interchangable, both have a long history of excellent relaiability. About the only thing that you might ever need changing out/rebuilding is the spindle bearing if it saw many thousands of hours of use or abuse. The spindle/bearing is the same as in the SL-1200Mk2 and new replacements are around $30.

The arm is a good one, providing its bearings are in good nick, and you don't get too jiggy with the choice of cartridge. I used a 2M Black in my last one (in the std headshell) and it sounded very nice indeed. £25 for a set of Vantage Audio feet, £50 or so for an Achromat and already the deck started to sing. The VA bearing was around 80 quid.

Paul Hynes psu on a Technics 1210 - DIY - HiFi WigWam

Posted August 2, 2012. I'm just about to start fitting a power supply to my mates 1210. It's a Paul Hynes SR3-21. Hopefully it is going to be an easy task. I'll be taking the transformer and the little mains pcb out of the 1210 and should be able to still include the on-off switch in the new wiring. I'm just having a listen to the standard tt ...

I tend to use the SRM-Tech ultimate main bearing oil as it is thicker and closer to the Technics original. Technics I believe used Anderol 465, the same as on the SL-1200 series, which can be obtained from KAB USA and sometimes in small quantities from various outlets in the UK, though here it seems to be hard to come by.

The Most Under Priced Vintage Turntables? - Audiophile Style

    https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/16719-the-most-under-priced-vintage-turntables/
Audio equipment is a low priority in our household. We often have little to nothing left after the bills are paid, so buying the best audio gear is impossible. Fortunately, it is VERY possible to compile a low-cost but good vintage system from discarded-but-good pieces from yesterday. Good thing ...

Disconnect it from the main chassis, turn it on, and measure the DC voltages at its outputs. (You'll need a manual, perhaps.) You should see 140VDC, 32VDC, and 5VDC with very little ripple (less than 1VAC, for example). If the voltages are only slightly off, and if there is acceptable ripple, then the supply is probably not to blame.
