With OSS, the boot process for the VM gets a VB message saying that no sound could be opened, and while windows thinks it's making sounds (volume controls show, that kind of thing) there's no output. In the VM settings, audio shows as enabled, but of course there's no separation between input and output.

It lead to one result: The VM audio worked on one Mac, but not the other. To fix this: Go to devicemgr in the Windows guest VM, right-click to the sound device, disable it. Then enable it. You need to be able to give access for sound and microphone and such via the security/privacy panel, but VIrtual BOx never requests it and so your sound doesn't work. At least, it needs to request microphone access, and never does.
