Audio quality is good. There is no distortion/skipping/stutter. However, delay is built up while playing sound. Audio is in sync at start but drifts gradually. There is a 2 second delay after 2 hours of playing. It is noticeable when start, pause or resume playing. Disabling and enabling audio output twice can get audio in sync again.

I am finally able to get the audio working by doing the following, Looks like the problem resides in the HD Audio Driver. Shut down the windows 10 VM. Open the Settings navigate to Audio section Change the "Host Audio Driver" to "ALSA Audio Driver". (Pulse Audio also works but it still had stutters) Change the "Audio Controller" to "ICH AC97".

As expected (we've tested this previously), using USB connected inside the guest VM works just fine; no stuttering at all. Using USB on the host and passing through audio via default VMware driver to the host results in the same stuttering on the USB devices as the default sound card. This seems to point to VMware driver as being the culprit.

I have a pair of usb headphones from altec lansing that utilizes the c-media audio interface. I have a second pair of generic headphones that also uses the c-media interface. When I use either pair of headphones, I hear constant stuttering or skipping in the audio. The audio also seems to play slowly. I am using pulse audio currently.
