VirtualDub audio problem - VideoHelp Forum

Natively VDub has some problems working with videos containing mp3 audio. Instead, you could try VDubMod. This has built-in support for mp* audio. When asked to correct audio header (in case the audio is VBR) select "no" and you can easily cut out parts, crop them, twist them, screw them up whatever you might want....

Audio pitch issues with Virtualdub - Speed Demos Archive
https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/audio_pitch_issues_with_virtualdub.html
I did a quick search of the forums but did not notice anyone with this particular problem. It seems that every time I use VirtualDub to record video from my Dazzle, the audio's pitch shifts randomly. There's no desync between video and audio, and as far as I can tell, neither the video nor the audio is speeding up or slowing down.

A start value of 2 for a 25 sample/sec stream would mean 80ms of dead time before the first sample starts. Generally this is filled in by extending the first sample backwards in time. VirtualDub does not yet support non-zero start values. (I need to fix this.) The sample size (dwSampleSize) determines the sample-to-chunk mapping.
Welcome to virtualdub.org! - virtualdub.org
VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images. I basically started VirtualDub in college to do some quick capture-and-encoding that I wanted done; from there it's basically grown into a more general utility that can trim and clean up video before exporting to ...

Open your video in the Extract tab and demux the audio track: 2. Convert the mp3 to wav (Don't be tempted to convert it to aac directly). You can use iTunes for this task, just edit the audio import options accordingly. 3. Convert the wav file to aac (up to 160 kbps LC CBR; Again, you can use iTunes). 4. I read in another post you tried Videora.

Yes there are cheaper options, but i don't or rarely upload the video's to youtube and want 5.1 audio. No other solution can do this AFAIK, not at 4k anyway. So having stopped that discussion here's the problem. I prefer to record with virtualdub cuz it's simple. But for some reason while even viewing the input from my PC, it can't maintain 60fps.

Another issue with VirtualDub is that it doesn't support too many video and audio formats, leaving users with just a few of them to work with. In this case, fixing the issue is easy, but time consuming and regards converting the video or audio to a format VirtualDub recognizes.
