Natively VDub has some problems working with videos containing mp3 audio. Instead, you could try VDubMod. This has built-in support for mp* audio. When asked to correct audio header (in case the audio is VBR) select "no" and you can easily cut out parts, crop them, twist them, screw them up whatever you might want.... I did a quick search of the forums but did not notice anyone with this particular problem. It seems that every time I use VirtualDub to record video from my Dazzle, the audio's pitch shifts randomly. There's no desync between video and audio, and as far as I can tell, neither the video nor the audio is speeding up or slowing down.
