Try installing the AC3 ACM Decompressor. That should help. This is the one!. Just right-click on the inf file and select install (I use Windows 7). I also used the AC3.zip previously mentioned. Place the AC3.vdplugin in the plugin folder under VirtualDub. Restart VirtualDub and it works Bam! That was it.

Try install codec by right click on AC3ACM64.inf file and select Install. Tried that...for a millisecond, I saw a box appear then immediately disappear. Opened a Matroska video in Virtual Dub. Same audio decompressor not found message. edit: .avi files do play with sound now in Virtual Dub, not Matroska (.mkv).

No, you don't want to apply the codec, you just want virtualdub to recognize the audio, so you can rip it. Open the file in vdubmod, select streams, stream list. RIGHT click the audio file, click Save WAV. Done.

I tried to do a capture test with the Virtualdub mod that I got from here (virtualdub 1.9.11 + Filters) but it crashed my computer on both attempts. I got it to work with the regular vdub app. I go to the capture section, and I can see my videotape playing, so at least I got that part right. However. I've got no audio. Help?
