You still get an error for VBR audio but Virtualdub handles the file correctly now. You can disable the error message if you want. Options -> Preferences -> AVI -> Warn when VBR audio is detected. You can disable the error message if you want.

If AVI file have VBR audio, use VirtualDubMod or eventually latest experimental VirtualDub (1.8.0). In VirtualDub 1.8.0 configuration You can disable Warn when VBR audio is detected. Usually i'm not have problems with MP3 VBR in this version. VirtualDub 1.7.8 not support VBR audio - possible A/V desynchro. Or try Avidemux . Quote

Virtualdub does give a warning about the audio ("Variable bitrate audio detected, VBR audio is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors .... etc"), but it seems to work. I tried changing the audio format to use a fixed rate but I still get this message so it must just be how Audials is saving the audio). At least this is progress though :)
