I want to have VLC output audio on HDMI and mpd output audio on 3.5mm (not necessarily at the same time, but without intervention for switching). Setting the mixer to 0 (auto) makes both output to HDMI, setting the mixer to 1 forces both to 3.5mm, setting to 2 forces both to HDMI. So while the mixer works as expected, I cannot make this split audio work.
