Hey, I just last week got a 2007 Volvo S80 3.2 with the 18" wheels and the Dynaudio. It is very clean and was kept in excellent condition. Like you, I find the stereo system excellent on CD's with older music and little bass, but anything dance/hiphop/pop with the slightest amount of bass starts distorting badly before even getting close to high volume.

My equalizer values range from -8 to +8 Bass: +4 Mid: +6 Treble: +7 Subwoofer: +1 This setting on my system give me really good midrange and highs. There is adequate bass in the doors but most of it is taken care of by the subwoofer.

There are no settings that can be changed in the amp. It has four full range channels. All tuning is done in the passive cross-overs, choice of speaker parameters and the EQ in the radio. The only one of these that can be adjusted by the user is the EQ in the SC-901. The SC-816 has a hardware EQ that can't be adjusted.

I’m about to buy a 2021 XC40. I listened to the HK sound system, and wasn’t so impressed. I currently have a 2006 Volvo S40 with the premium sound system (either Dynaudio or Audyssey) and I honestly prefer that to the HK. Not as much booming bass, but more clarity and depth, especially with vocals.
