I also have an audio sync problem. All of my MKV files/movies are out of sync by aprox 140 ms. This doesn’t happen with my old WDTV Live Plus. The picture and audio are consistently out of sync on the new Streaming Media Player throughout the whole film. Tested it by hooking it up to different TV’s to see if the input lag was the case.

The main problem I see with WD TV live is the audio sync issues when running DVD movies. WD TV live was running .17 version. I had audio sync issues in running any of my DVD movies stored on hard drive. I dont get the same problem with theatre +. Then I upgraded the WD firmware to .24. still same problem.

This is normal and is so common most receivers have a setting for it (usually calling it “lip sync” or “audio delay”). It varies by device and by how much processing is doing on in the image (modern HDTVs can do a ton of image processing nowadays). Usually you can delay the sound by up to 100ms (which is enough for almost any problem).

In any case, as I stated in the original post, it’s the mkv files that are giving me trouble and they play flawlessly on the PC and even my phone (Epic 4g) but have audio/video sync issues when played both through the network onto the WD TV Live Hub and when played directly from the built in Hard Drive on the Hub.

All the videos have a 200 ms audio sync issue. The audio is ahead of the video by 200 ms. When I select Options on the WD TV Live and select Audio Lip Sync and adjust the audio with a -200 ms delay, the audio is perfectly in sync. The 200 ms audio delay is consistent for the whole video (does not increase or decrease in duration).
