My set up is WD Live Hub via HDMI to Samsung LN22C350 22inch LED TV. The WD audio output is set to Digital Pass Through. The TV specs indicate it should receive and decode the 5.1 AC3, and indeed it works fine if the the files are, as mentioned, mp4 files. The exact same streams packaged in mkv container will not play audio however.

I created a set of AC3 (extension .ac3) and DTS (extension .dts) standalone 5.1 audio files. The best I could get out of audio was stereo since it was only analog. I also didn't like to have to get up to change a show on my PC because I didn't have remote access. Not anymore.
