My wii works perfectly fine. The only issue I have is when I boot it up (Red light to green light), sound comes out of the tv, but no video is shown. I have gone through five different brands and types of wii video/audio cables and nothing has worked. I think it has something to do with the video plug inside the console.

Picked up a Wii console for a song (ie. free), previous owner said it had no video and he wasn't wrong. Completely disassembled the console to give it a thorough cleaning... extremely dusty inside and noted that the plastic air intake grill on the (vertical) bottom of the Wii was almost completely clogged with dust (never seen that before ...).

After the Wii boots plug the AV cables in (without turning off the Wii). If this works go into settings and change the video setting from 480p back to 480i. Using a component cable plug the green wire into the yellow jack and you will get black and white so you can at least see the menu to change the video from 480p to 480i. larrylje, May 25, 2009
