First would be Wild Burro Audio's Betsy or Betsy-K. These are extremely well priced at $100/pr for the Betsy and $110/pr for the Betsy-K. This is an 8" driver with whizzer cone and only requires the simplest of enclosure to get good results. I've heard it before in a transmission line enclosure and it sounded quite nice.

Right now my current amplification scheme is a battery-powered 15 watt/channel Class D amp from Jerry's Electronics (with upgraded caps). This powers the Betsy-k speakers. The Alpha 15a speakers are powered with a Rotel RB-1050.

Best $100 I've spent on audio gear. Built the Wild Burro Audio Betsys in one hour flat. These 8 inch full range drivers in the open baffle design sound better than speakers costing ten times their price. These things are so easy to build a ten year old could put them together.
