I really dont get it why XP can be so good in audio quality yet windows 7 really having such issue. Audio impact by the data activities, when I copy something from the external HDD, the audio glitches can really go very bad. Nothing much I can do, because those external USB audio rely only the default windows USB audio Codec.

Go into the audio card properties - advanced; switch the playback frequency from 48K, which is default, to 44K (if thats what setting your using for playback in Patchmix.)
