Ubuntu 11.04 and XBMC 11.0 using an Nvidia 520 GT card, when attempting to setup Audio via HDMI, kept getting a "Failed to initialize audio device" error when trying to play videos.... This solved my issue. Tried all configurations running Ubuntu 12.04 and MSI N210 (Cheap graphics card) directly through to my 32" Samsung TV / Monitor on an HDMI.
