This works great in most respects. However, there is a 2-second delay between when XBMC starts playing audio (music or video with sound), and when it actually outputs from the TV speakers. The sound is in sync with the video; it just takes 2 seconds to start. It’s annoying to always hear a theme song start part-way into the first few notes.

Go into your advancedsettings.xml and put in <streamsilence>1</streamsilence> Then set your audio output to wasapi. If none of those work then you can just turn off bitstreaming in your xbmc audio settings. Edit: the issue is partially caused by your receiver. It takes a few seconds to recognize the ac3/dts stream, hence the silence.

Participant. Small update. When I open ‘pavucontrol’ utility on server, navigate to Input Devices tab and set ‘Monitor of NoMachine Output’ as fallback source instead ‘NoMachine Microphone’, delay value decrease to ~0.5 second. It fixed my issue, buy I must do that manually after each connect to server.

Hi, I have become a big fan of OSMC but there is one problem I have not yet found a solution for. This is that when playing movies, there is a slight delay between video and audio, i.e. audio is lagging behind. Probably in the range of 200ms or so. The delay remains stable during video playback. I tried several changes to the audio settings but saw no improvement. HW is a …

How do I set up live audio streams to a DLNA ... - Ask Ubuntu

The delay comes from filling the HTTP buffer. It keeps the stream playing in case your connection has issues (weak wifi, etc.). If you want to reduce the delay, use a codec which needs much bandwidth (wav) to fill that buffer faster.Cable connection always helps.
