I'm new to XBMC, and love it. I have an new Acer laptop running Windows 8.1 connected directly to a Toshiba HDTV via HDMI. When playing a movie or music thru XBMC, I get no audio thru the HDMI connection. Just through the laptop speakers. Audio output is fine thru the TV speakers with all other apps.

Actually looking at all your audio settings, you don't seem to be passing through any audio via HDMI which could be the reason you're unable to get anything from the receiver. This is on the right track. XBMC needs an audio output driver in Windows it recognises & then needs to be able to send the audio out the HDMI.
