Go to control panel, sound and audio, hardware, USB devices, and disable it. The issue stems from the computer thinking that the xbox controller is an audio device, and giving it priority when it is plugged in. I bet if you had a headset plugged in that you would get audio through there too. Sorry this is a year late.
