On upgrading from an original Xbox 360, I was very disappointed to discover that a SPDIF port is not provided in the Xbox 360 E. My television does support HDMI input, allowing me to have 720p game playback, but does not support digital audio out. Conversely, my receiver supports digital audio input, but not HDMI input.

Using the component cable from the 360 to the Onkyo for audio/video, the audio worked but no video. Everything connected thru the A/V receiver. The TV set is a Pioneer # 5010 Plasma, a Panasonic Blu-Ray, a Cox Cable box, and JBL/Polk speakers.
