There only seems to be one card atm that is directly compatible with front audio ports, the X-FI Xtreme Gamer, and even then, it's only specifically Intel HD Audio (codenamed Azalia) spec, not AC97. There's info at http://www.formfactors.org/developer\specs\A2928604-005.pdf but to condense it down, page 20 and 25 give a visual difference.

If that's actually true, then I'm really pissed. Is there really no way for me to do it besides stretching my headphone cables around to the back of my PC? I have the vanilla x-fi card, and my only complaint is the lack of front-audio port on the card. wtf.

posted 2006-Oct-10, 10:12 pm AEST. I found it easier to use X-FI for my 5.1 speakers and switch to onboard HD Audio for the front audio panel. Not the best solution but I only need the front panel for BF2 because of the Mic, everything else I just use speakers or use the headphone jack on the speakers for my headset. User #99545 2262 posts.
