I service it regularly and always flush each engine after use. I was wondering if it was the PCV valve or possibly a seal on the lower unit?

Step 1 Turn the ignition key to the start position and pull the safety lanyard. If the horn is operative, it will sound. Step 2 Disconnect the pink lead and black lead from the temperature warning sensor on the powerhead. Plug the black lead into the socket for the pink lead. F250 over temp sensor. 09-24-2014, 05:46 PM. I tried testing the over temp sensor on my 06 f250 but did not get an alarm or an icon on the gauge. I disconnected the wires from the sensors and connected them together but I did not get an alarm. I just looked at the last diagnostic report and I noticed the overheat thermoswitch is off.
